[En] Interview : Bvdub (Quietus Recordings / Styrax Records)

Brock Van Wey alias Bvdub has launched in december 2007 a very intimate label about ambiant and deep mind elevations. Based in San Francisco, Quietus only delivers 100 hand-made cd-r copies for each releases, including artists like Brock himself, Quantec and Remote_. A very talented crew who has already signed amazing stuff for the highly respected Styrax label. Here, Brock talks about his music, the story of Quietus and its releases, the mp3 vs the cd-r distribution, why it’s so important for him to produce hand-made cd-r’s, and the unexpected reactions of the listeners of Quietus. Far away from the techno (or the “minimal”) star-system, all the things you are going to read tends to suggest this guy is just a true music-lover. Continue reading

[En] 4 records from netlabels

4 records 4 free

Welcome to the jungle of the netlabels ! Damned, there are too many ! The fact is, that’s so easy now to buy or use cracked softwares, play some shits in few minutes that make you think you are the new Radioslave, and less than one hour for uploading your crappy “work” into the world’s face. That’s the problem with 98 % of the netlabels nowadays. And it’s discouraging people who only want to find good vibes. It’s the Youtube generation, where everybody can make anything (interesting or not), and upload it to tell to the world “hey look at my dumbass face, dude”. Everybody wants (to be) a piece of this globalized cake… Continue reading

[En] Interview : Newworldaquarium (NWAQ / delsin)

The guy you’re watching overhead with the strange mexican hat is Jochem Peteri, well known for the international electronic scene under Newworldaquarium. Liked for his unexpected slow-dance groovy tracks, after released 12″ for planet e, peacefrog, or delsin, he plans to release in March the cd version (with bonus tracks) of the acclaimed vinyl-album “The dead bears” few months ago. Let’s try to uncover the secrets of a very talented but so discreet artist from Amsterdam. Our ears are wild open… Continue reading

[En] The Tuss – Rushup I bank 12 video (rephlex)

The music of this video clip is taken from one of the best – and mysterious – album of 2007 : Rushup edge by The Tuss on the rephlex label. A lot of words have been written about the identity of The Tuss. First, everybody thought The Tuss was Brian Tregaskin, a never-heard-about-him guy, new gifted composer on the prestigious rephlex roster. Maybe too much talented… Continue reading

[Fr] STL – Night grooves (something)

Groovy STyLe

Continue reading

[Fr] Interview : Cosmo Vitelli (I’m a cliché records)

Continue reading

[En] Swayzak – 10 years @ Rex Club

October 20th. English duet Swayzak was celebrating their ten years of collaboration at Rex Club, Paris, and also their last album Some Other Country (!K7).

After a great groovy deep / dub (with some little dark oddities) warm-up by Roger 23, and the short concert of Richard Davis, David Brown & James Taylor finally came to the stage. So, what was going on? Just two sweet hours of laptop-live, as usually totally improvised, with some vocal tracks sung by their old friend Richard Davis (Another way back, No sad goodbyes…). Then, Roger and all the crew played nice records until 6 am. A really good night!
